Sample Withdrawal Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to notify your school that we, Mr. & Mrs. ____________________, parents of ______________________________________, hereby withdraw this student from your school. His/her last day at your school was__________________. All books and other materials belonging to the school have been returned. Future non-attendance of this student at your school is the result of the exercise of our parental authority and is not to be misinterpreted as truancy, nor is it the result of unruliness or delinquency on the part of the student. This withdrawal reverses the delegation of our parental authority to your school and ends your in-loco-parentis authority. Your school system is hereby relieved of all responsibility concerning this child's education. This letter is being sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, and a copy has been retained.

We understand that according to TCA 49-6-3001 (c) (4) we have 30 days to get this student enrolled in another school. We have enrolled (or in the process of enrolling) this student in another school and you have our permission to send records upon their request.
